Choose a guide by the visible roof clue

Start with the event, location, and pattern you can document safely rather than a cause you have not confirmed.

Describe the smallest true condition

Use language such as water appeared at a ceiling seam, an edge component is displaced, granules or fragments are on the ground, a gutter overtops at one outlet, or frost is visible in an attic area. Add the date and weather. That phrasing directs an inspection without turning a symptom into a remote diagnosis.

Escalate unsafe conditions

Keep people away from openings, sagging finishes, electrical hazards, unstable exterior material, ice fall zones, and storm debris. Use emergency and building contacts when the hazard is immediate. Do not use a ladder or walk the roof to decide which page to read.

Call about the roof

Have the address, safe ground or interior observations, event timing, access contact, and any roof or permit record nearby. The call may connect you with an independent provider. Confirm who answered, Madison coverage, service fit, credentials, insurance, availability, price, permit responsibility, and contract terms.
